The German Language Working Time Society:

Arbeitszeitgesellschaft

The German Language Working Time Society (“Arbeitszeitgesellschaft”) includes members from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It was founded in Munich, in 2013. Its goals are closely related to those of the Working Time Society with the aim to promote research and transfer to practice in the field of working hours for scientists, practitioners and policy makers on local levels in the German speaking countries.

Working hours In the Nordic Countries:

WINC

WINC is a network for researchers from the Nordic countries with interest in research in working hours. The aim of WINC is to establish the network for better coordinating existing research and cohorts on working hours and health in the Nordic countries. Further on to discuss possibilities for collaboration across countries and cohorts and to develop new high quality research projects, and make jointed applications for funding of research.

Working Time Japan Society:

WTJS

WTJS, founded in 2016, is a scientific society to improve the working time through interdisciplinary approaches of natural sciences (e.g., medicine and psychology), social sciences (e.g., law and economics), and occupational health science.

Collaborations

The International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH): 

Scientific Committee on Shiftwork and Working Time

ICOH is an international non-governmental professional society whose aims are to foster the scientific progress, knowledge and development of occupational health and safety in all its aspects. The WTS is a twin association linked with the ICOH Scientific Committee on Shiftwork and Working Time; each operate under different governing rule, though with common purpose. The WTS and ICOH Scientific Committee on Shiftwork and Working Time work collaboratively on projects while having autonomy to pursue independent activities.

Chair: Imelda Wong (1st Term)

Imelda Wong is an Occupational Hygienist and Epidemiologist with the CDC/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Her currently role is Program Leader for the NIOSH Center for Work and Fatigue Research. Imelda has served on the Executive Board for Working Time Society the Executive Board, since 2012. She has been a guest editor for 2 recent themed journal issues, Industrial Health and the American Journal of Industrial Medicine, that address health and safety risks associated with nonstandard work hours and fatigue.

Secretary: Kyriaki Papantoniou (1st Term)

Kyriaki Papantoniou is a shift work researcher trained in Medicine (MD, University of Patras, Greece) and Epidemiology (PhD, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain), with international research collaborations (Surrey University, UK and Harvard Medical School, USA). She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Center for Public Health, Medical University of Vienna in Austria and an Associated Researcher in the Barcelona Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal), Barcelona, Spain. Her research activities focus on the effects of night shift work on chronic disease outcomes and characterizing key biological and behavioral underlying mechanisms in human epidemiologic studies and interventions. Kyriaki is a 2nd term WTS Board Member and 1st term IOCH Scientific Committee Secretary.
